Toddy's Before Christmas visit

On Wednesday December 8th, our friend Toddy the chocolate brown labrador dog came into visit us. He is now full size and is just as calm as ever. Some of us were a little scared at the beginning because of his size, but once we got Toddy outside with the ball most of us felt a lot more relaxed and made friends with him. Check out our movie:

Our last day

Today marks the last day of term for 2010. These lovely Year 2 children will be moving classes and up a level to Year 3. This does not mean that the work has stopped on this blog. There is work posted up each day throughout the school holidays, so that you our audience can enjoy it. Feel free to leave comments to any of the children, they love getting your feedback.

Next year, this blog will continue but with an older age group. Miss Paton our teacher is moving up levels to Years 5 & 6 (10 & 11 year olds). You can still check out past work by clicking on the tabs at the top of this blog. In the new year, when school starts we will let you know which classes these children have moved into and will link this years work onto their new class blog, so that it will not be forgotten.

On behalf of Room 3, we would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It has been a successful year, creating and sharing our learning to you our audience. Do visit the blogs over the holidays, there's lot of great work on them.

Interpreting the Graph

Over these last few weeks, we have been collating data from our Something from Nothing movie votes and presenting them in the form of a graph to determine who the winning team was. Check out our interpretation in our Voice Thread.

And the winning team is....

Over these last 13 days we have had a total of 52 votes come in for the four teams who were involved in our class movie that was screened at the Manaiakalani Film Festival. The four teams were: Red, Yellow, Blue and Green. These teams took an active role in counting up the votes. We hope you enjoy our movie showing the process of collating and graphing the results. Once again Thank you voting for your favourite team, Room 3 loved reading your comments and working out who the winning team was.

Update on the Winning Team

Thank you so much for casting your votes as to who you think the winning should be from the Something from Nothing movie. We are now making tally charts and using the computer to create our graphs. These will be uploaded onto this blog very soon. If you haven't voted yet, now is your chance.

Last week we had Constable Julie come in to talk about what to do if we got lost and road safety. We learnt about sneeky drive ways and to stop, look and listen when we cross the road.

Something from Nothing

Today is the big day and we are so excited that our movie is screened at Hoyts Cinema at Sylvia Park. It is such a huge honor. This is our film festival movie and this year our focus is on wearable art. Check out our amazing costumes. After you've watched our movie, cast your vote by making a comment as to which team you think should be the winning team. We look forward to counting up your votes and reading your comments. This term in topic we have been learning about: The Life of a Fireman. Today we walked to the Panmure Fire Station and learnt about the head quarters-where they live, sleep etc and we also got to squirt lots of water using their hoses. Check out our photos.
