Literacy Maths, Problem of the Week: Planning a holiday
This week Room 5 are going on a well deserved holiday. This just isn't any old holiday. It is a virtual holiday-pretend. Our holiday destination is to the Gold Coast in Australia. This week each student will be planning their holiday. They will be given an unlimited sum of money which will pay towards their airfares, transport to places, attractions, meals, shopping, etc. The students will be staying with their Aunt and Uncle who live in an apartment in Surfers Paradise. The students will be away for 8 days and each day they have to be visiting an attraction e.g. zoo, theme park. During Reading and Maths, the students will be going on to the Internet to research the cost of air fares, cost of child admission into the attractions, cost of meals, etc. They will be creating their own itinerary for their holiday. Find out what they do on each day and the overall cost of their holiday.
