Fine's Silhouette Painting Reflection

Reflecting on my Silhouette Painting

1. Are you pleased with your Silhouette painting? why / why not?
Yes, because it is the first time I have made a blended sunset with a silhouette and I want to remember my first kind of artwork.

2. What did you find easy when you created your silhouette painting?
Folding the paper because it was easy to fold it because you can’t get anything wrong unless you haven’t been listening.

3. What part did you find tricky when you were creating your Silhouette painting? -think about blending of colours, tracing round your animal and painting within your animal.
Well definitely tracing the animal because once you think you're finished you have to check if you can see the traced animal on your artwork because if you can’t see the traced animal you have to start again but in the same spot.

4. Who / What helped you when you were painting?
Miss Paton helped me by showing me the steps to make
my silhouette painting.

5. What would you do differently next time? Think about: blending of colours, animal choice, presentation.
I would change how I painted my elephant because I didn’t take my time and I rushed.

6. What frustrated you when you created your Silhouette painting?
Tracing the animal because it's really hard.

My Silhouette Painting Reflection By Oh S'mar

Reflecting on my Silhouette Painting

1. Are you pleased with your Silhouette painting? why / why not?

Yes, because I tried very hard and it looks good to me.

2. What did you find easy when you created your silhouette painting?

I found painting the sunset very easy to me.

3. What part did you find tricky when you were creating your Silhouette painting? -think about blending of colours, tracing round your animal and painting within your animal.

I found tracing the animal hard because I had to keep the paper still.

4. Who / What helped you when you were painting?
Patrick and the teachers example. Patrick told me what to do and showed his work as an example.

5. What would you do differently next time? Think about: blending of colours, animal choice, presentation.
Choosing a different animal because the animal I chose was to easy.

6. What frustrated you when you created your Silhouette painting?
Tracing around the animal because it was moving a little bit and I had to take the paper off.

My Silhouette Reflection By Samantha

Reflecting on my Silhouette Painting

1. Are you pleased with your Silhouette painting? why / why not?
Yes, because my sunset stands out. Also the blending colours in my picture are very awesome. I also love my artwork because my elephant really stands out.

2. What did you find easy when you created your silhouette painting?
I found the sunset pretty easy because we had to fold our papers in quarters and when we painted it, it was really easy to blend the paint.

3. What part did you find tricky when you were creating your Silhouette painting? -think about blending of colours, tracing round your animal and painting within your animal.
I found tracing the animal pretty hard because when you trace your picture and then take it off its sort of hard to try and see what you’ve traced.

4. Who / What helped you when you were painting?
Miss Paton with my artwork by explaining how to do the artwork.

5. What would you do differently next time? Think about: blending of colours, animal choice, presentation.
I could work on taking my time when I paint my shadows.

6. What frustrated you when you created your Silhouette painting?
I was frustrated because I was rushing to get my work done.

Room 5 Darts Competition

Today we learnt to play darts. It was a fun Maths activity as we had four tries to aim for the Bulls Eye. During the lesson we had to apply our Basic Facts knowledge. Some of us scored inner and outer ring points where we had to double and triple our scores. Here are some photographs of the lesson. Next week we will be using Google Spreadsheets to create a graph on our overall totals. We will make interpretations on who scored the highest and lowest points. We will also look at why these students did well and will make comparisons on which try in the game scored us the most points.

More Silhouette Paintings Complete

Today we had some more students finish off their Silhouette Paintings. Check out their paintings.

Patrick's Time Line

Mrs Paton's interpretation Patrick was born in May 2002. I learnt that there is a start year and an end year when creating a time line. Patrick's time line year started in 2002, because this was the year Patrick was born. The end date is 2013 because it is the present day. When we made time lines we had to work out half of Patrick's age. Patrick is ten years old and to work out the centre line we had to half the 10 to make 5. This was the centre line to Patrick's time line. This was centre make which showed that Patrick started school. From 0-5 years on the left side of the timeline shows Patrick's early milestones from 6 - 10 years on the right side shows Patrick's school years.

Personal Timeline Activity

Today in Maths we learnt about personal time lines. We were given the task in sequencing and ordering our teacher's time line from when she was born till when she went to the United Kingdom and Europe for a holiday last year. The first time line was very tricky as it did not have any years on it and we had to really think hard where to sequence the milestones in Miss Paton's life. The tricky milestones was trying to guess when Miss Paton went on her first camp and when she first learnt to play the recorder. The second time line had years and months that we could order and sequence correctly. This made the task a lot easier as we could determine what year and month came before and after.

A Global Learning and Thinking Community

This is our Room 5 vision for this year. This statement depicts the way we do things in Room 5. We will be referring to the Manaiakalani pedagogy of Learn, Create, Share throughout the year. The globe symbolizes going places through our learning we put on our individual blogs. Over the years it is amazing the number of views students receive from our international audience. The clouds represent aiming high, climbing to the top and going on an exciting learning journey together.
